Time:2013-12-17

The World Bank (World Bank) recently praised the potential of solar energy in India, but warned that if the country wants to achieve their ambitious 20GW by 2022 deployment target, it must make some changes.

In a new report, the bank said, has led to the decline in the cost of solar energy is increasingly becoming a promising technology that can improve the country's access to energy and help reduce emissions without limiting their economic growth.

World Bank Regional Director Onno Ruhl India, said: "In just three years, India has developed its rich potential of solar power has made remarkable progress."

He added:. "In view of the more than three hundred million people do not have access to energy, industry, citing a shortage of energy as a key obstacle to the development of India, solar power has the potential to help the country cope with the economic development facing power shortages."

Ruhl added: "Although India is now in the field of solar power is gradually becoming a global leader, but to achieve the 2022 add 20,000 MW of solar power generation target, it still needs to address the major obstacles and constraints that may Solar plans to expand way. "

The bank called for improved access to private capital, and promote the development of domestic solar energy supply chain manufacturing sector, India can compete in this field in the global market.

Its praised Gujarat solar park suitable model and called on other states to develop similar parks. The model is a large area of land approved PV power plant, grid connection and other appropriate infrastructure for developers to remove a lot of barriers.

According to the World Bank, India, through a series of auctions to get the lowest cost, and to win the world for as low as the lowest subsidy per kWh $ 0.12, has been put into approximately 2GW of solar power.
