New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has called for more funds to help the state to achieve the 2023 3GW of solar energy.

Last week, the New York Public Service Commission to the applicant submitted an overview to 2023, expanding the funding needs of the state NY Sun plans.

This expansion outlined by the governor of the state • Andrew Cuomo (Andrew Cuomo) last year. According to NYSERDA, it will need $ 864 million to $ 108 million a year to maintain the liquidity available for solar subsidies until 2023.

The application also outlines a new "MW Block" statewide subsidy program, which eventually will include renewable energy with the system (RPS), the current solar subsidy Customer-Sited Tier (CST) and the Standard Offer and Competitive PV Programs in.

The application said that as the market development and costs decline, NYSERDA in "MW blocks" in the proposed expansion of NY-Sun Initiative 3GW of new capacity into consideration, as well as lifting RPS funded photovoltaic and other subsidies.

The application is currently subject to review of the Commission, is expected to make a decision in a few months.

If the application is approved, it will be over before the state announced in June 2013, New York solar bill (New York Solar Bill) to the 2023 New 2.2GW of solar capacity target.

NYSERDA also requires cooperation with the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and the New York State Public Service (DPS), to encourage the development of solar energy in the state.

Deputy Director of the Ministry of Communications DayleZatlin NYSERDA told PV Tech in an interview that the money has not yet been approved, but said Cuomo support of the application, and want to increase solar power generation in New York.

Cuomo announced last week plans to promote a series of solar's message in his State of the State of.

In his proposal to expand NY Sun program, which will include a community solar program "Community Solar NY", designed to make any resident of New York can use solar energy. The program includes "K-Solar", provide on-site installation of a solar energy project assistance program for the New York State about 5,000 public schools. NYSERDA and the New York Public Authority (NYPA) will work using solar installation projects in schools and other public buildings, to prove raise awareness of solar energy.

The State of the State's message also outlined a $ 40 million worth of "community power" award. The program will be funded in a densely populated area to create a new intelligence, distributed power grid to improve power grid flexibility to deal with natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy.

New York State Smart Grid Consortium executive director James • Gallagher (James Gallagher), said: "Community Grid protect people, businesses and infrastructure from damage caused by extreme weather and long-term power outages, like in the super storm Sandy, Like Iran experienced Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lane.
